Brian Scallan

A chemical engineer with vast experience spanning a career of over 50
years. With a BSc in chemical engineering, he started as a researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), before completing a BCom (economics) and then an MBA. Prior to moving to Standard Bank where he operated at a senior executive level, Brian was a management consultant at one of the leading global professional services companies. Post Standard Bank, Brian followed a career in project and trade finance. In recent years, Brian has operated as, inter alia, head-of-funding for a London listed copper and cobalt mine in the DRC; worked for two Canadian listed mining companies and
subsidiaries, as Vice President Commercial; financial director; and board member, respectively. Brian is currently a part time lecturer in economics, banking and supply chain cost management at a leading South African tertiary education institute. He is regarded as a
leader in adding significant value in the design, establishment and implementation of new capital projects. Brian is an Evalution Capital director and group shareholder.
